Resolutions for 2010
This came a little bit late , ( I uploaded on Jan 10th, but set the date back to Jan 1st. haha ) but it was already in my books on the last week of December already. Just that i do not have time to put into wordpress. Today is the first day of my new role in the same old company. The real job tasks have not start to come in yet so now is the best time to put things into place. 2010 has 5 goals.
# 1. Get a Job
This one i got already. Back in the same company , but working for a different boss now. Some say i jump from one sinking ship to another sinking ship. Some say is better just to get a job to secure first. The only thing that was once holding me back is probably the severance $$$.
Having worked in motorola for 9 years, the severance package pays the employees one month per year of service ( as of now, no one know what it will changed to though there are some rumours that it will definately change ) Adding the leave balance and other stuff, the severance pacakage actually could chalk up to 12 months of pay. That sounds like a one time good bonus , well provide if i get a job . Having failed the interviews for dell, singtel and philips, i am starting to lose confidence in myself too. And since there is a new opportunity in Motorola for a new job scope, I thought maybe i should give it a try since I have a special liking for the environment and culture here.
2 start a family in 2010!!
35 years old already. Still waiting for what?
3. Continue to climb the career ladder
I should have been promoted last year. I will work on that in 2010
4. pass my pmp and itil exam!
Been dragging this for months. In order to qualify for the citrep reimbursement. I MUST take my PMP in March and take my ITIL in June. Do i have the time to study ? I hope i do. The PMP certification will be a add on to my resume and I am sure it will definately help me to climb up the career ladder.
5.complete my 42km marathon
I missed the 21km SCM last year due to feet injury and the date is so close to my travel date. Coincinetally , when i was in Hawaii, i saw the Honolulu Marathon and was totally inspired that i should do a 42km somewhere along my 30s. So I signed up for the adidas sundown marathon which is going to take place in May. It is going to be tough and definately needs training. I started running and created a blog to record down the distance i ran. But knowing myself well, i know I will not be updating it as regular as I wanted to. But I will try.
The goal is to be able to do 30-35km . I started off last week with 5km condition runs. Did a 10km run at about an hour and I think i need to do a few more 10km and 15km runs at least before the CNY. Maybe 2x 10/15km runs a week.
